SHAMA STELLA

Stella was born on the 21st of September 2005; she is now making five years old this year. Stella was born without any known disability. At three months old life changed for her, her head started too grow. At the age of 6 months old it was suggested that she visited Mbale hospital for treatment. She was thought to of had hydrocephalus (water on the brain).

When she came home from Mbale, it was noticed at a clinic run by soh (spring of hope) that Stella had developed deformities due to poor positioning of her lower body. She was then referred to Katalemwa for where she started to have her legs worked on through pop (Plaster of Paris). The pop was working well, until she went back the third time. Which is when she got wounds on her legs; this led her to treat the wounds for four months. Her legs were evidentially straightened to the point she was able too start too walk.

At three years old she learnt to walk, before that she was only able to sit. She is now developing well but she is still having some challenges with her mobility. Stella is hoping to start school next year.
